Overview

You will work alongside a team of disputes lawyers to lead on legal advice and support related to claims, disputes, and notifications for a rapidly expanding and high-profile global business. Your role will also play a key part in managing and reducing commercial and contractual risks across the organisation’s international project portfolio.

Description

  • Collaborate with other business support functions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Assist in developing and refining internal systems and processes to improve legal and commercial team efficiency.
  • Contribute to internal training initiatives on commercial and contractual topics.
  • Provide strategic legal input on contentious issues, identifying commercial opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support the resolution of claims and disputes, including insurer liaison, negotiation, and pre-action correspondence, while contributing to overall case strategy.
  • Oversee claims management within the business unit and contribute to broader risk oversight across regional and global operations.
  • Enable senior stakeholders to report effectively on dispute status to executive leadership.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Deliver responsive legal and commercial advice on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Profile

A successful Disputes Solicitor should have:

  • Qualified solicitor status with expertise in dispute resolution or litigation.
  • Strong background in construction law disputes; experience with construction insurance is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Capability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in both formal and informal dispute resolution, including negotiation.
  • Skilled in advising on contract management and proactive dispute avoidance.
  • Legally qualified with circa 2-6 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Commercially minded team player with a collaborative approach to achieving service goals.
  • Confident presenter with effective communication skills.
