Associate – UK Private Client – Cheltenham – 2+ Years PQE
Location: Cheltenham
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £65,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience)
A highly respected and internationally recognised Private Client team is seeking an Associate with 2+ years’ PQE to advise a broad range of UK clients on succession and tax planning. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the leading private wealth teams globally, working with high quality clients and complex matters within a collaborative and forward thinking environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied and sophisticated caseload of UK private client matters, including:
- Providing clear, practical and commercial legal advice on succession and tax planning
- Managing a substantial and varied workload efficiently and cost effectively with appropriate supervision
- Drafting complex documents with minimal instruction, using appropriate precedents
- Conducting research and applying a commercial approach to the delivery of advice
- Delegating, coordinating and supervising work of junior team members where appropriate
- Participating in client marketing activities, including seminars, presentations and pitches
- Identifying new client opportunities and taking steps to develop them
- Contributing to team knowledge, know how and internal training
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including SRA Standards and Regulations
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified lawyer with:
- England & Wales qualification (or equivalent such as CILEX) with 2+ years’ PQE
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international succession and tax planning
- A STEP qualification (advantageous but not essential)
- Excellent judgement and a strong understanding of client needs
- A hands on approach to managing files and a broad caseload
- High attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
- Flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks
- A proactive, self motivated approach and ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to team success
